For teens who want thrill rides, Busch Gardens Tampa Bay is the best option in the area and one of the best theme parks in Florida outside of Orlando. The roller coasters — including Cheetah Hunt, Montu, SheiKra, and Tigris — are legitimately excellent and rank among the best in the Southeast. The park also has over 12,000 animals in naturalistic habitats, so it's not purely a coaster park. Plan a full day and arrive early to hit the major coasters before lines build. Busch Gardens is about 45 minutes from downtown St Pete.
Empower Adventures Tampa Bay is consistently rated the #1 adventure activity in the Tampa Bay area and is a genuine highlight for teens. The zip line course runs through a lush Florida forest canopy with multiple lines, sky bridges, and rappels. They also offer sunset tours, which are particularly popular with older teens.
